This 17th of Augt and following dayes arrived the
Convoys and fleet when I read my Letters and the
favor of yors of the 20th of Febr. the 30th had a
meeting of the Councill to whom I communicated
their Mayts commands and all Else of pulick Import
and by their Advice Issued out Proclamations for
Accounts or dues to the Clergy, and Suspending the
Acts for Ports and advancing the produce of the
Country and writts for a Genll Assembly to meet
the fourth of Octor

In Sept I had an Account of the Death of Govr
Copley, and disorders in Maryland about the Govermt
upon wch I sumoned a Councill who Judging I ought
and that it was necessary for their Mayts Service I
went thither where I found them still Contesting
butt Sattisfied wth my Commission and all [were] Composed
and quiet and having by Advise in Councill setled
all was necessary there & I left Coll Grenberry
President of the Councill and came thence ye begining
of Octor , hastened to be here att the opening of this
assembly, of wch and beginning I have given ye former
accounts and now the acts and Journall of Assembly
also sent, by wch you will see their Humour, and how
little regard to matters recommended to them Run
[over] their old laws (wch they call revising) but would
not be induced to take into consideration that of
Ports voted against att their first meeting and laid
by
